Booking and Reservations

All correspondence relevant to reservations and cancellations must be received in writing and acknowledged by Karanambu in care of karanambulodgegy@gmail.com.

Cancelation and Penalities
Karanambu’s cancellation few is based on time of receipt of formal written notice of cancellation as follows.
  • 60 – 90 days prior 5%
  • 41 – 59 days prior 20%
  • 31 – 40 days prior 50%
  • 30 – 15 days prior 75%
  • Less than 14 days 100%

Transfer of Booking

In the event that a guest cannot travel due to extraordinary circumstances, Karanambu may (at the sole discretion of management) transfer paid bookings to
another available time at no additional fee.

Immediate Concelation
Karanambu reserves the right to cancel any booking with immediate effect should any of the above provision not be observed.

MEDICAL and DIETARY Information

Due to its size and location, Karanambu is a very isolated site and all guests should
be cognizant of the accompanying risks of the same in the event of an emergency. As
a result Karanambu requests that we be advised in advance of any:

  • Specific medical issues or physical limitations
  • Specific dietary restrictions or preferences.
Karanambu reserves the right to refuse a booking where the medical risk or dietary restrictions may be deemed to be unmanageable.

TRAVEL and MEDICAL INSURANCE

Karanambu recommends strongly that all guests purchase Travel and Medical Insurance when booking a visit to Karanambu Lodge.

Karanambu takes every reasonable effort to ensure the Health and Safety of our facilities but requires that guests be informed prior to arrival that eco-tourism
by its very nature involves exposure to wild and unpredictable environments & animals and involves risks beyond our control.

Karanambu has personnel trained in first-aid on site at all time and provides access to an infirmary and First Aid Kit.

Karanambu is not equipped to deal with any serious health issues or incidence and is isolated from access to modern health facilities. Karanambu therefore accepts no liability in the event of illness, injury or loss of life as a result of visiting Karanambu.

Karanambu accepts no responsibility for the loss or damage of personal property including luggage, cash or Jewellery nor for missed flights or disrupted travel arrangements resulting from a visit to Karanambu Lodge, breakdowns, delays or other travel factors beyond our control.

Karanambu Policies

  • Due to the highly incendiary nature of the thatch that is found in buildings throughout the compound, Karanambu prohibits smoking in all buildings.
  • Out of respect for our environment, the high risk of savannah fires and the incendiary nature of fuels used with outboard engines in close proximity to guests on river trips, Karanambu asks guest to refrain from smoking while on outings in boats or on savannah journeys especially in dry season.
  • At all other times Karanambu respects the right of an individual to choice to smoke but asks that persons be mindful of the comfort of others who may be in their company.
  • Karanambu requires that ALL guests be advised that wildlife viewing is a privilege to be enjoyed with the aid of our experienced guides. Though every reasonable effort will be made to ensure that guests have an enjoyable experience, Karanambu CANNOT Guarantee the sighting of specific animals or birds and has NO CONTROL over climatic conditions which may impact any scheduled activities.
  • Karanambu reserves the right to terminate any activity, at any point should a risk to the safety of GUESTS or STAFF be deemed eminent.
  • Karanambu reserves the right to terminate any activity, at any point should it be deemed distressing or unsafe to the WILDLIFE involved.
Karanambu reserves the right to terminate a visit without warning and/or refund should the conduct of the individual or individuals involved be found to be reckless, disorderly, abusive or in any manner not in keeping with Karanambu’s commitment to conservation and the respect of the rights of other individuals regardless of ethnicity, age, gender, sexual orientation or economic status.

Karanambu is open to the public throughout the year with the exception of Christmas and New Year, when it is customary for staff to return to their villages to celebrate with friends and extended family usually between the 23rd of December and 3rd of January each year.
